Rivers Casino Philadelphia, formerly SugarHouse Casino, is a casino entertainment development along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Fishtown neighborhood. Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House — Enjoy the Dine Out at Hugo’s Week and Buck-a-Shuck offerings at Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House:

• Dine Out at Hugo’s Week — From Jan. 12 through Jan. 24, guests can enjoy mouthwatering dishes with a three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menu during Restaurant Week at Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House. Guests can have a special Hugo’s lunch for $20 per person or dinner for $35 per person.
• Buck-a-Shuck — Buck-a-Shuck days, featuring $1 oysters, are Thursdays from 5-8 p.m.

On Fridays and Saturdays in January, guests will enjoy live piano music in the casino’s first-class steakhouse from 6-10 p.m. Live music on Thursdays is from 5-9 p.m.

Mian — Enjoy the Lunar New Year, $18 lunch special and more at Mian this January:

• Lunar New Year Special — From Jan. 1 through Jan. 31, Mian is celebrating the new year with a delicious special featuring New Year’s soup, Chinese sausage with Asian vegetables, ginger scallion lobster, steamed fish of the day and more. The celebration continues on Jan. 25 at 8 and 11 p.m., where guests can enjoy the lion dance.

Guests must visit a ticket writer at the counter to receive their entry, and one winner will be selected at the drawing on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at noon.

Progressive Payday January Earning — From Wednesday, Jan. 1, through Friday, Jan. 31, Rush Rewards Members can earn a variable amount of tier points to qualify for the $10,000, $25,000 and $50,000 Progressive Payout drawings. Each qualifying guest will receive one entry into their respective drawing.

Rivers Casino Poker Tournament Schedule

When the Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady, New York opened back in February, it was not surprising to see the new casino overcrowded with guests. The weekends were especially busy as visitors came from all around to see what the new venue had to offer. As far as poker is concerned, the Rivers Casino features a poker room with fifteen tables. When the casino opened, crowds were so large in the poker room that players had to either find something else to do or put their name on a waiting list in order to be allowed inside once someone else left. The poker room has seen a flurry of activity which has now led to a new tournament schedule that officially launched today.

The casino announced earlier this year that they planned on offering poker tournaments on weekday mornings but would be unable to launch the tournaments until approval was given by the New York State Gaming Commission. The Gaming Commission has now reviewed the poker tournament plans of the Rivers Casino and No Limit Hold’em poker tournaments began today and will be on schedule for the remainder of the month.

The No Limit Hold’em poker tournaments will run Monday to Thursday and take place at 9:30 am. There will be a second tournament taking place each Monday at 6:30 pm, for those who are unable to attend the early morning events. Buy-ins are $75 with seating for 10 players at each poker table.

On Tuesday and Thursday, the poker room at the Rivers will feature No Limit Hold’em Bounty Tournaments with an added $25 charge to the buy-in. The extra cash gives players a bounty chip which is connected to an extra prize opportunity at the casino. When a player is eliminated, they give the chip to the player who made the elimination and the extra prize is awarded when the winner of the tournament is determined.

These new tournaments are a response by the casino to the popularity of poker in the region. It will be interesting to see the turnout for the month of April and if the casino will plan on adding more tournament options in the coming months.
